Indiana Farmers Coliseum – Arena Curtaining | Indianapolis, Indiana
The former Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum, now Indiana Farmers Coliseum, has hosted millions of people during thousands of events since its opening in 1939.
The experience of an event attendee from the moment they walk through the door until they exit is priority number one for any venue. Being able to have control over all lighting and sound elements goes a long way in making that experience a memorable one.
The Indiana Farmers Coliseum tasked Flyhouse with creating a light block environment with a full curtain system and installation of acoustical baffles for acoustical absorption.
This particular project was a special one for Flyhouse. While we have done many different curtain installations for other venues, the project at Indiana Farmers Coliseum was the first full curtain package where every aspect was completed by Flyhouse.
Due to the historic nature of the venue, Flyhouse had to overcome multiple access challenges while completing the installation. To combat this issue, temporary access solutions were constructed allowing access to install acoustical panels and to hang curtains without the use of scaffolding.
When the project finished, Flyhouse installed 101 IFR (inherently flame retardant) drapes along with 22 window covers ranging from 8’ x 7’ to 11’ 6” X 11’ and 68,000 square feet of horizontal and vertical baffles.
